The Rainy Lake Cam started with a laptop and a web cam so that its down state owner could day dream about being at the lake. As the site on its original host became known, it was obvious that the site could be much more. The new site is professionally hosted and has several cameras (one public) run on a dedicated server for photo and weather updates. Weather monitoring is provided by a Davis VantagePro2 weather station and periodically updates the sites weather page as well as providing data to weatherunderground.com.
As this site is just a hobby there will be outages. I hope to keep them to a minimum but they will and do happen. If something doesn't look right let me know, I take criticism well. If you have an idea for content, a business in the area looking for exposure or anything else, send an email and I will see what we can put together. I have no delusions of making money off this site so I don't charge to promote a local business but I will make sure you are treating my neighbors right so don't bother unless you are honest.
I hope this site helps you keep in touch with the community and gets you through those weeks when you need a "lake fix"
